The company doctor at your service

Company doctor appointment, preventive and periodic medical checks, fitness opinions, restrictions and call-back management. Coordination with RSPP for risk-appropriate health protocols.

What it is

Health surveillance is the set of medical checks performed by the company doctor on workers exposed to specific risks. Not about general health: it verifies that specific worker is fit for that specific task given the related risks.

Mandatory when workers are exposed to: noise > 80 dB(A), hand-arm vibration > 2.5 m/s², hazardous chemicals, biological agents (group 2-3-4), ionising and non-ionising radiation, VDU > 20h/week, manual handling, alcohol and drugs in risky tasks, night work.

Company doctor must be Occupational Medicine specialist or equivalent, registered with Ministry of Health.

Penalties: no appointment = €2,000-4,000 fine + activity suspension; missed medical visit = €2,000-4,000 per worker.

Who needs it and when

For all companies with workers exposed to specific risks (see "What it is"). In practice: food industries, manufacturing, mechanical, construction, healthcare, schools, agriculture, logistics, transport, retail.

Medical visit:
• Preventive before task assignment.
• Periodic annual (sometimes 6-monthly for high exposure).
• On worker's request if condition worsens.
• For task change.
• At employment end for some exposures (e.g. carcinogens).
• Return-to-work after >60 days continuous absence.
